1st Sgt. Retired, Thomas Franklin Cochran, 82, of Clarksville, died Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, in Nashville. Mr. Cochran was born December 13, 1931 in Lyon County, KY, to the late James Everett Cochran and Zeffie Harper Cochran. He was also preceded in death by his son, Gregory Alan Cochran.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 16, at 12:00 p.m. at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel, with Pastor Larry Riley officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 15, from 4-7 p.m. and on Wednesday, from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery - West, in Hopkinsville, KY.
Thomas was retired from the US Army, having served in the Korean War and the Vietman Conflict. He was also retired from Civil Service, for a total of 55 years with the US Government. He was president of the 24th Infantry Korean War Association.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jackie Cochran, of Clarksville; one son, Terry (Cindy) Cochran, of Clarksville; two daughters, Marviene Cochran, of Clarksville, and Monika Arnett, of Seattle, WA; two brothers, James Cochran and Phillip Cochran; two sisters, Stella Norris and Deatta Holland; and five grandchildren, Gary Farrington, Kyle Farrington, Scott Cochran, Elizabeth Cochran, and TC Cochran.
