Warren L. Mabry

December 28, 1931 ~ December 4, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Warren L. Mabry, 85, of Clarksville, died Monday, December 4, 2017, surrounded by the love of his family. He is now united with his Savior, his wife Doris, and his precious daughter Pamela.

He was born December 28, 1931, in Camden, TN. He married Doris the day after she graduated high school and not long after joined the United States Army. During his 24 years in the Army, he served one year overseas, so that he could be close to his family. Throughout his military career, he was a devoted husband, father, and church member. No matter where the Army took him, he always had his heart set on returning to Tennessee, where his extended family lived and his beloved daughter Pamela was buried. In 1976, he retired from the Army and, after traveling coast to coast with his family, they moved to Clarksville, TN. There he began a second career in real estate with Conroy, Marable, & Holleman, where his love for people, the military, and Clarksville flourished and where he retired after 24 years of success as a real estate agent.

Never one to sit still for long, Warren was always involved in service to God and others. He was an active member of the Gideons and traveled many miles speaking and handing out Bibles. He was a committed member of First Church of the Nazarene, serving as song leader, board member, and Sunday school teacher. He was active in the Civitans of Clarksville and a graduate of Austin Peay State University. He was a scout master for the Boy Scouts, as well as a great fan of UT Lady Vols basketball. He and Doris would often travel to Knoxville to see games.

He loved to travel and see the world. This love took him to places such as China, Australia, Russia, Japan, Egypt, and multiple trips to Europe, along with visiting every state in the USA.  After retiring from real estate he and Doris drove a 40-foot motor home all the way to Barrow, AK and back one summer. He also took his children and their families along for trips to Europe, Hawaii, and other destinations.

Those who knew him best knew him as a kind and gentle man of faith who was always looking for an opportunity to help someone along life’s way. After the passing of Doris, his wife of 55 years, and as his health began to fail, God brought another wife into his life, Sara, who showed him the same kind of unfailing love he had demonstrated for so many years.

Warren will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Sara; five children, Paul Mabry, Trish & Lee Clayton, Mark & Theresa  Stone, Sherry & Wayne Gibbs, Jan & Todd Dunn; twelve grandchildren, Lindsey Mabry, Ashley Mabry, Henry & Jackie Clayton, Emmalee Clayton, and Jessica & Robert Kesler, Destinye Stone, Shayna Stone, Megan Dunn, Cody Dunn, Keith Jones, Ryan & April Jones, and Mandy Wade; and three great grandchildren, Abbi Dunn, Jaxon Jones, and Ethan Churchill.

Pallbearers will be Mark Stone, Todd Dunn, Lee Clayton, and Henry Clayton.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, December 7, at 11:00 AM, at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, with Rev. Ken Andrews officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Donelson National Cemetery, where full military honors will be rendered. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 6, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, and Thursday, December 7, from 10:00 AM until the hour of service, at the funeral home.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to AseraCare Hospice, as well as Mark & Theresa Stone.
