Barbara Sue Purvis, age 86, of Clarksville, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Arcadia Senior Living.
Barbara was born March 11, 1934, in Milan, GA, to the late Walter Thomas Yawn and Rosa Mae Lowery Yawn. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clydus J. Purvis; brother, Bill Yawn; her very special nephew, Darryl Purvis; and son-in-law, James Wilkinson.
Mrs. Purvis was a member of Hilldale Baptist Church since 1965, where she enjoyed her Sunday School class. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a Worthy Matron for four years.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, January 14, at 1:00 PM, at Hilldale Baptist Church, with Dr. Larry Robertson and Rev. Steve Freeman officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday, January 14, from 11:00 AM until the hour of service, at the church.
Barbara is survived by her son, Jeff (Margo) Purvis; three daughters, Elaine Purvis, Jamie (Timmy) Amos, and Elise (James) Myers; sister, Jeanette Yawn; brother Jimmy (Jo Anne Hawkins) Yawn; grandchildren, Aubrey (Matt) Bryant, Eric (Ashley Botts) Wooten, Andrew (Brandi) Boutwell, Thomas Purvis, Levi (Ashley) Mathews, Arye Boutwell, Clay (Megan) Purvis, Landen (McKenzie) Mathews; grandchildren by marriage: Mary Margo (Bronson) Lankford, Patrick (Kaci) Turner, Paul (Mary) Turner, Marti (Ricky) Hill, Jennifer (Billy Jon) Whitlock, Louie (Jana) Wilkinson, Brandon (Christine) Myers, Lauren Myers, and Wes Myers; great grandchildren, Ashtyn, Bryant, Laci Mathews, Lakelyn Mathews, Lydia Mathews, Chamlee Boutwell and 16 great grandchildren by marriage.
Barbara's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
