CW3 (US Army Retired) Matthew Hancock, age 54, of Cunningham, passed away Friday, June 29, 2018, at Skyline Medical Center.
Matthew was born December 7, 1963, in Davenport, IA, to the late Glenn Hancock and Rosemary Sedore Liebold. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Norm Liebold.
Matthew was retired from the US Army, as a CW3, after 22 years of service. During his tenure, he served during the Gulf War and two tours in Iraq. He was awarded the Bronze Star. Mr. Hancock was a selfless person, who loved and was devoted to his wife, family, and friends. He loved to fish, hunt, and was a chef in the kitchen.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, July 3, at 10:00 AM, at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, with Pastor Gary Herndon officiating. Interment will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West, in Hopkinsville, where full military honors will be rendered. Visitation will be Monday, July 2, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, and Tuesday, July 3, from 9:00 AM until the hour of service, at the funeral home.
Matthew is survived by his wife, Pattie Perry Hancock of Cunningham; two sons, Matthew "Buck" Hancock of Knoxville, TN and Simon (Rachel) Hancock of Clarksville; two daughters, Stefanie Hancock of Oak Ridge, TN and Jaima (Matt) Cross of Clarksville; two brothers, Mike (Mickie) Hancock of E. Moline, IL and Marty (Teresa) Hancock of Princeton, IA; eight grandchildren, Jovanni, Trey, Josh, Natalia, Arianna, Peyton, Kennedy, and Harper; and his dog, Bailee.
Pallbearers will be Willie McRae, Mike Billiter, Omega Fuller, Pat Dorsey, Butch Cassidy, and Troy Suggs.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Manna Cafe, 1960-J Madison Street #312, Clarksville, TN 37043.
