Catherine Dale

Catherine Dale, age 91, passed over to her forever heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior, Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at her residence.

Catherine was born March 15, 1929 in Dickson County to the late Art Doake Bishop and Fannie Mae Jones. She is preceded in death by brother, Garner Bishop; sisters, Mary (Bob) Giles, Maggie Mathis, Wilma Harrell (G.W) and daughter Shirley Birdwell.

Catherine was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother (great and great-great grandmother) to her family and was always willing to lend a hand-up to them. She led an exemplary life and her word was her honor.  She enjoyed working in her yard and growing beautiful prize-winning flowers.  Her winning personality and witty sense of humor made her endearing and drew people to her.  No better friend could be found anywhere, nor was there a greater love she poured out-to her family.  Rummy was one of her favorite card games to play with her family and rarely did she lose.  She worked hard all her life and was a great example for her family.  Her faith in Jesus Christ was unshakeable and unwavering regardless of the challenges set before her as a divorced single mother of her two daughters as well as her grandchildren after their mother passed away very early in life.  She loved working at Acme Boot Company and may have set a record of never missing a scheduled day’s work for 41 years as a seamstress (fancy-stitched).  Catherine’s family says she was the monarch of the family, and there will always be a void because of her physical absence, but that she will forever remain alive in their hearts. They are consoled and comforted by God’s Word that promises a heavenly eternity where there’s no more tears, pain, or suffering and that immediately upon her crossing-over, she was absent from the body and present with our Lord and Savior Jesus.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 22, 2020, from 11-1:45 at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at Greenwood Cemetery at 2 PM.

Catherine is survived by daughter, Evelyn Johnson; six grandchildren, Tammy Gizzi (Troy), Justin (Ashley) Johnson, Audrey Rose Birdwell, Cathy McBride, Michael Birdwell and Stephen Birdwell; seven great grandchildren, Stephanie Gizzi-Bell (John), Rachel Gizzi, Les Stephens, Katherine Birdwell, Jakob Johnson, Amber Collier and Jason Ely and five great great grandchildren, Jackie Bell, Jordan Bell, Ava Gizzi, Daniel Ely and Charlotte Collier.

Pallbearers will be Justin Johnson, Stephanie Gizzi-Bell, Audrey Rose Birdwell, John Bell, Jason Ely and Stephen Birdwell.
