Dr. David Gillon, age 72, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on October 2, 2023, surrounded by
family. He was a dentist and veteran of the U.S. Army.
David was born on March 30, 1951 in Boston, Massachusetts. He was preceded in death by his
parents, John and Alice (Ware) Gillon. He grew up in Stoughton, Massachusetts. Colonel Gillon earned his BS in Biology at Suffolk University, and his D.M.D in 1979 from Tufts
University School of Dental Medicine in Boston. He joined the military in 1979 and was stationed in Fort Jackson, SC, Fort Sam Houston, TX, Fort Hood, TX, Nuremberg, Germany,
Giebelstadt, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Fort Campbell, KY, and Fort Meade, MD. During his career, he was the Theater Dental Surgeon in Saudi Arabia, Commander of the 523 rd Medical Company
in Giebelstadt, Germany, and he served as Director of the Advanced Education in General Dentistry for the Dentac Residency Program at Fort Campbell. Colonel Gillon retired in 2002.
He made an impact on many lives. He felt that his greatest joy in his years of service was mentoring young dental residents.
David is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Holly (Marks) Gillon, his daughters, Nicole (Walter) Williams, Heather (Travis) Stanley, grand-daughters, Lena (Riley) Battles, Sarah
Williams, Katherine Williams, and great-granddaughter, Cecily Battles. He is also survived by his sister, Kate McGaffey, and brothers, Jack Gillon and Thomas (Christina) Gillon. His loved ones
will remember him as a kind man who loved the ocean, skipping rocks, working on model trains, watching Star Trek, cheering on the Predators and Bruins, and he loved playing games
with his grandchildren. His greatest love was his family.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Paul Nguyen. Visitation will be on
Monday, October 9, 2023 from 5:00-6:30 P.M. with Rosary from 6:30-7:00 P.M. and on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 from 9:00-10:00 A.M. at Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home in Clarksville,
TN. Burial will follow the funeral mass at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, KY with full military honors.
