Dr. Betsy (Crockarell) Henley

Dr. Betsy Crockarell Henley, 78, of Brentwood, TN, passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at Life Care Center of Blount County.

Betsy was born on January 4, 1940, in Montgomery County, TN to the late Issac Smith Crockarell and Naomi Smith Crockarell. She was also preceded in death by a great aunt, Lucille Smith.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, August 10, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Rev. Laurie Hynson officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2018, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and Friday, August 10, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Betsy graduated from Clarksville High School in 1957. She went on to attend Lindenwood College, received her Bachelor's Degree in 1963 from Austin Peay State University, received her Master's Degree in 1973 form Austin Peay State University, and received her Doctorate's Degree from UT Knoxville. She taught at CHS for 10 years prior to becoming the Director of Vocational Education for Montgomery County. She was named Administrator of the Year by the Tennessee Vocational Association, Past President for Clarksville-Montgomery County United Way, Past Board of Directors and Chair of the Industry Committee for Clarksville Chamber of Commerce, represented TN and three other states as Region IV Director of the National Council of Local Administrators of Vocational Education, EPDA Fellow (University of Tennessee-1973/74), Delta Kappa Gamma Scholarship (1972/75), APSU Majorette, Finalist Miss Missouri Contest while at Lindenwood College, and previous member of Madison Street United Methodist Church.

Betsy is survived by her husband, Ben L. Henley; daughters, Elizabeth Heineman Youngs (Lynn) and Mary Heineman Griffin (Jeff); five grandsons; and two great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Lynn R. Youngs, Jeff Griffin, Aaron Barrett, Josh Griffin, Richey Ward, and Jerry Clark.
