Helen (Furgerson) Sheets

Helen Furgerson Sheets, age 94, of Clarksville, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Signature Healthcare. 

Helen was born October 5, 1923, in Nortonville, KY, to the late John Wesley Furgerson and Ellen Louise Blythe Furgerson. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Ervin William Sheets; brother, William Furgerson; and three sisters, Marie Moore, Mildred Harrison, and Joyce Davis Furgerson. 

Helen was a devoted and loving wife for 57 years, until the passing of her beloved husband Ervin, in 1999. She was a faithful member of the Life Church of Clarksville, and the sunshine of her family. Mrs. Sheets voluntarily assumed the roll of surrogate mom to all her nieces and nephews over the years. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. It was a true joy to be in her presence. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, May 11, at 1:00 PM, at Life Church of Clarksville (428 Lafayette Road, Clarksville, TN 37042), with Pastor Gregg Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, in Indian Mound, TN. Visitation will be Thursday, May 10 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, and Friday, May 11, from 11:00 AM until the hour of service, at the church. 

Helen is survived by her daughter, Velma Alaine (Terry) Hastings; four nephews, Jerry Wayne (Betty) Denton, Kenneth (Phyllis) Moore, Garnett (Nancy) Moore, Jr., and Wesley Moore; seven nieces, Carol Moore, Patti (Willie) Simpson, Dorsa (Joe) Muzzall, Donna (Jerry) Barker, Kathy "Kj" (Russ) Kimmet, Gail Settle, and Jane (Gary) Mungle; two grandchildren, William David Hastings and Terrica Brown; six great grandchildren, Samantha Lovelace, Jessica Whicker, Steven Lovelace, Taylor Hastings, Logan Hastings, and Madison Hastings; and four great-great grandchildren. 

Pallbearers will be Russ Kimmet, Loyd Deloach, Kenneth Moore, Garnett Moore, Wesley Moore, and Willie Simpson.
