Jack Dudley Bumpus

Jack Dudley Bumpus, age 92, of Clarksville passed away Friday, April 2, 2021, at his residence.

Jack was born August 21, 1928, in Montgomery County, TN, to the late Finis Bumpus and Mai Dunlavy Bumpus. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 45 years and mother of three sons, Dorothy Ussery Bumpus; one son, Ronald W. Bumpus; and four siblings, Nora Dee Jackson, Lorene Bumpus, Elma Bumpus Lane, and Lonnie H. Bumpus. 

Mr. Bumpus was a 1946 graduate of Montgomery Central High School and a member of Martha's Chapel United Methodist Church. He served many years on the Farm Service Agency and Montgomery County Soil Conservation. Jack was a member of Central Civitan Club and Montgomery County Cattlemen's Association.

Jack farmed with his brother, Lonnie, as Bumpus Brothers Farm. Not only was farming his livelihood, but it was a beloved lifelong hobby that he truly enjoyed. Bumpus Brothers Farm was honored to be selected Master Conservationist and Farm Family of the Year. Jack truly loved operating his equipment in his river bottom farm. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, April 7, at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, with Rev. Ben Falls officiating. Burial will follow at Martha's Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 7, from 10:00 AM until the hour of service, at the funeral home.

Jack is survived by his wife of 21 years, Sydney Phillips Bumpus; two sons, J.D. (Beverly) Bumpus and Fred (Elaine) Bumpus; two stepdaughters, Tracey Marston and Renee (David) Hall; four grandchildren, Chad (Shancy) Bumpus, Gavin (Jennifer) Bumpus, Natalie Soucy, Taylor (Devin) Hightower; three step-grandchildren, Tiffany Marston, Ryan Hall, and Scott Hall; four great grandchildren, Max Bumpus, Kinley Soucy, Jack Soucy, and Decker Hightower; and sister-in-law, Doris Jean Bumpus.

Pallbearers will be Chad Bumpus, Gavin Bumpus, Lewis Bumpus, Lewis Bumpus, Jr., Mike Baggett, and Ken Spiceland.
