Kathie Sue Barkley

Kathie Sue Barkley, age 68, of Clarksville, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021, at Tennova Healthcare.

Kathie was born March 31, 1953, in Knoxville, TN, to Addelee Slayden Brown and the late John A. Brown, Jr. She was a graduate of Lipscomb University.  Mrs. Barkley was a retired teacher with Clarksville-Montgomery County School System, where she taught for 25 years, including 20 years at Barksdale Elementary School. She was a member of Hilldale Church of Christ, a volunteer at Happy Hills Boys Ranch, and served as a foster parent for five years.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, October 12, at 11:00 AM, at Hilldale Church of Christ, with Bro. Steve Kirby officiating. Visitation will be Monday, October 11, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, and Tuesday, October 12, from 10:00 AM until the hour of service, at Hilldale Church of Christ. Interment will be Wednesday, October 13, at 2:45 PM, at Spring Hill Cemetery, in Nashville.

In addition to her mother, Kathie is survived by her husband, Bruce Barkley; son, Anthony Barkley; daughter, Rebecca Barkley; two sisters, Linda (Gunnar) Ohgren and Melanie Gordon; sister-in-law, Kay Leonard; nephew, Cory (Shawna) Gordon; two nieces, Jessica (Weston) Langdon and Kelsey (Matthew) Blalock; great niece, Emma Gordon; great nephew, Theo Langdon; her church family at Hilldale Church of Christ; countless friends; and many adoring students.

Pallbearers will be Hal Slayden, Tyler Slayden, Cory Gordon, Richard Yost, Scott Davis, and Jay Tucker. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Bryant, Brandon Browning and Kyle Tucker.
