Mabel Irene Larson, age 82 of Clarksville passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at her residence.
Mabel was born September 5, 1939 in Trenton, KY to the late Cecil Howell and Myrtle Gray Howell. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband Howard E. Larson. She is survived by her life partner, Harry Crocker; son, Howard Eric Larson II; daughter, Sherri Larson; sister, Patsy Richmond; brothers: David Howell, Jerry Howell and granddaughter, Katie Larson.
Ms. Mabel owned and operated McDonald’s restaurants. She was a graduate of McDonalds Hamburger University and Western Kentucky University where she received her Bachelors of Science and received an honorary MA and PHD from Vanderbilt University. She was a recipient of the Outstanding Local Business and Professional Women of the Year award, Lifetime Leading Edge Award, 40 Year Service Award, Ronald McDonald Award, Mayor’s Certificate of Community and Civic Affairs, Clarksville Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Business Person of the year 1987, Who’s’ Who in TN Distinguished Service Award, Honorary Kentucky Colonel, Business Professional Women’s Business Woman of the Year in 1992, 1996, 1999, Charter Communications and The Romance Cool Woman’s Award in 2000, Austin Peay State University President’s Advisory Board, Miss TN Beauty Pageant Board, Board member to Fort Campbell’s Eagle Nest, Chairperson on the American Heart Association, Member of “The Network”, YMCA Play Place, Mabel Larson Skate Park, Received the APSU Ovation Award, APSU Oldest Building, The Harned Gallery, dedicated as the Mabel Larson Art Gallery, Current Board of Directors Member and Board of Trustee Member, as well as an alumni to the First Leadership Clarksville Class of 1987-1988,
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home with Rev. Dane van Eys officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, November 29, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the funeral Home. Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
