Nancy Elizabeth (James) Coltrane

January 12, 1944 ~ August 8, 2018 (age 74) 74 Years Old

Tribute

Nancy Elizabeth James Coltrane passed from this life on August 8, 2018, after a long battle with heart disease and breast cancer. She was 74 years old and a current resident of Clarksville, TN.

Nancy was born and raised in Greensboro, NC and was the only child of Charles Henry James, Jr. and Nannie Blanche (Kirkman), who have predeceased her.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Sidney and two children, James C. (Pam) Coltrane and Jeannie (Tim) O’Brien. Nancy is also survived by her three beautiful granddaughters that she loved and adored, Kassie, Emma and Erika.

Nancy’s life-work was in the banking industry. She was a hard-working, extremely dedicated employee, mentor and friend in the field for over 30 years. Nancy found great satisfaction in her work and was loyal to the companies in which she worked. Upon retirement from banking, Nancy relocated to Tennessee to open Zaxby’s restaurants with her family. She successfully pioneered a naive market and helped grow her businesses to over 120 employees in three locations. While she was proud of her accomplishments, Nancy was never a boastful person. She took pride in befriending and helping others. She remained a lifetime member of Vickery UMC in Greensboro, NC where she grew up singing in the choir and with her cousins. Nancy loved NASCAR, the Atlanta Braves, and the Atlanta Falcons. She enjoyed traveling, especially to the beach, and an occasional gambling excursion.

Per her wishes, there were no funeral services held, and her final resting place will be the Gulf Coast area.

If so inclined, you may make monetary contributions in her honor to AseraCare Hospice (1539-C Ashland City Road, Clarksville, TN 37040), although Nancy would encourage you to save your money for a rainy day.

A small Celebration honoring Nancy’s life will be held Saturday, November 17, from 3:00 until 5:00 PM, in the banquet area of Old Glory Distillery. Also, Clarksville area Zaxby’s locations will be closed November 17th in her honor.
