Robert S. Harris

Robert S. "Bob" Harris, age 84, of Southside, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2019, at Tennova Healthcare. 

Bob was born January 27, 1934, in Southside, TN, to the late Faxon Harris and Emma Lee Batson Harris. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Wendy Harris; and five brothers, Cornelius, Edward Lee, Benny, Earl, and Don Harris. 

Mr. Harris was a member of the Church of Christ at Trenton Crossing and was an elder at Southside Church of Christ until it closed. He was a heavy equipment operator for Morgan Construction and later retired after 30 years with TVA.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, January 16, at 1:00 PM, at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, with Bro. Geoffrey Sikes officiating. Burial will follow at Southside Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 15, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, and Wednesday, January 16, from 11:00 AM until the hour of service, at the funeral home. 

Bob is survived by his wife, Nell Greenup Harris; son, Jeff Harris of Clarksville; two daughters, Vicki (Doug) Hildreth of Clarksville and Rhonda Harris of Murray, KY; four grandchildren, Kelly Stevenson, Erin Szyszkiewicz, Katie Hildreth, and Joey Skaggs; and four great grandchildren. 

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Weakley, Enoust Lee, Allen Workman, and Bob's friends at Southside General Store. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of Christ at Trenton Crossing, 2650 Trenton Road, Clarksville, TN 37040; or to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018.
