Steven "Steve" R. Jones

Steven "Steve" R. Jones, 67, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2019, at Tennova Healthcare of Clarksville.

Steve was born on May 26, 1952, in Evansville, IN to the late Thurston E. Jones and Wilma Harp Jones.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2019, at 5:00 p.m. at the Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Rev. Kathy Fox officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2019, from 3:00-7:00 p.m. and Wednesday, August 21, 2019, from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Steve was a retired Montgomery County Emergency Management Director and County Fire Chief. He was a former Ft. Campbell Fire Department Captain and U.S. Air Force Firefighter. He led Clarksville during several major disasters, including the 1999 tornado that destroyed downtown Clarksville and the 2010 flood. He established the Montgomery County Fire Service, ensuring everyone in Montgomery County had equal fire protection and was the founding Chief of St. Bethlehem Fire Department. He was a member of Macedonia Presbyterian Church.

Steve is survived by his wife, Dixie Jones of Clarksville, TN; son, Doug (Brandy) Jones of Clarksville, TN; three brothers, Ron (Sherrie) Jones of Alabama, Dan (Debbie) Jones, and John (Jerri Ann) Jones of Indiana; sister, Wilma Jean (Bill) Williams of Nebraska; two grandchildren, Wyatt Jones and Austin (Megan) Jones of Clarksville, TN; and two great grandchildren, Tripp Jones and Emma Jones.
