Thomas G Gilbert

Thomas G. Gilbert, age 86, of Clarksville, TN, passed away Monday, September 19, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. 

Thomas was born February 17, 1936, in Clarksville, to the late Clayton Gilbert and Elizabeth Crow.  He was the last living of five siblings.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joann Givens; daughter Cindy (Scott) Johnson; son Chuck; grandson Nick (Jonay) a great-granddaughter Ember and many nieces and nephews who loved him so.   

Tommy always had a smile on his face. A handshake with "Hi I'm Tommy Gilbert". Tommy lived in Clarksville his entire life with the exception of four years in the Air Force, with his first station being in Hawaii.

Golf was his passion. He made seven hole-in-ones and scored his age for many years until he couldn’t play. In later years, his haunts were Moss’s Cafe and the YMCA, where he was chastised for jumping in the pool and going down kids slide. The local paper even featured the incident. He made people smile when they saw him. He loved to aggravate his sister-in-laws and jump in to conversations and discussions just to cause trouble. His monumental saying was “I read up on it”. He will be missed so much.

He was a member at Hilldale Church of Christ, serving as deacon for many years. He retired from Fort Campbell Civil Service at 55. He enjoyed many rounds of golf after retirement.
 

A Celebration of Life Service  will be held Thursday, September 22, 2022 at 3:00 PM, at the Chapel of Neal Tarpley Parchman Funeral Home, with Steve Kirby Officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, September 22, 2022 from 11:00 AM until the hour of service at the funeral home. All friends and family are encouraged to attend.
