Thomas E Nelson

Thomas (Tom) E. Nelson died peacefully on September 30, 2023. 

Tom was born in Perry County, MO on August 22, 1935. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kirby James Nelson and Mary Henrietta Nelson and eight siblings of which he was the youngest.

He moved to Clarksville at age 18 to take a job at Frosty Morn Meats. Tom was a lifetime fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, a league bowler, and loved collecting books. In his youth, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, and playing sports. A favorite past time of his was traveling with his wife Sue.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Sue Nelson, his children Janice Williams, Cindy (David) Austin, Terri Suiter, Debra (Randy) Butts, the mother of his children, Mary Lucille Thompson, and his beloved cat, Lulu. He has nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. 

Funeral service will held on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at 12:00 pm at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home followed by burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm and Wednesday at 10:00 am until the hour of service. Pallbearers will be David Williams, Steven Williams, Daniel Austin, Dave Austin, Nelson Suiter and Ethan Horan.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
